But realistically you're not going to remember these illustrations or scenarios when you are faced with these situations. You just need guts in a polite way. It gives some helpful illustrations on what to say at work to speak up. You just need to change your whole frame of mind in general and pause before you speak to be honest with yourself and others.
I tried everything to become assertive, but before I discovered this book, nothing taught me this ability, it will work for you too, if you commit to it, it's so much harder than it seems but that's just because you need it so bad. You will be amazed how you you will become a different person when you intigrate this material, it works.
I bought this book to help my daughter who has used it to learn how to stand up to a difficult boss. A great book, well presented and really helpful.
I do believe that there is a market for this book, though, and that this book will be very good for that market. Perhaps "niceness" is a variation in the assertiveness training world. I read this book after reading Too Nice for Your Own Good. I found this book to be very informative and seemingly comprehensive, but didn't hit on topics I related to. I didn't do the work, because I didn't buy into the premises for each topic.
